There are several options available for getting to University College Dublin's Belfield Campus. The public transport infrastructure serving UCD is extremely good and the campus itself is situated close just off the N11 and approximately 15 minutes drive from the M50 at Dundrum (Junction 13).

Dublin Bus routes 46a, 39a, 145 and 17 provide a direct bus services to the Belfield campus. Route 39a can be boarded at Bachelors Walk (stop no 313) and College Street (stop no 349) in Dublin City Centre. Dublin Bus routes 46a from Phoenix Park via Upper O'Connell St (stop no 6059) , 46e from Blackrock Station (stop no 3085), 47 from Pearse St via Lower Grafton St (stop no 402) and 145 from Heuston Station (stop no 4320).

Bus Éireann provides nationwide bus services throughout Ireland (including Northern Ireland) with most major areas having regular services to Dublin. The majority of Dublin services terminate in Busáras (Central Bus Station) from where it is a short walk to O'Connell Street for connecting buses to UCD. Bus Éireann also operates routes directly to UCD. Selected services on route 109 from Cavan via Kells & Dunshaughlin serve UCD.

Dublin is served by two main railway stations: Dublin Connolly and Dublin Heuston. From Dublin Connolly it is a short walk to O'Connell Street & Upper Ormond Quay from where the Dublin Bus routes 3, 11B & 39a can be boarded. The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) is a frequent commuter train that connects Dublin with points north of the city, such as Howth, and points south of the city, such as Bray & Greystones. Tickets may be purchased in person or through automated ticket machines in stations. The nearest DART station to UCD is Sydney Parade. The UCD DART Shuttle Bus operates throughout weekdays from Sydney Parade Station. Otherwise, the distance from Sydney Parade to UCD is a short walk.
There are usually an adequate number of taxis in operation in the city centre at any given time. It is possible to hail a taxi from the street, but there are several convenient taxi ranks available.
